Conditions We Treat

The conditions that FirstMed treat are essentially non critical illnesses that are treated with medications that are often called life still drugs. Essentially the NHS can not afford to offer subsidies all prescription drugs so some limits are made.

For the majority of people suffering with non critical conditions there is no alternative other than usually very expensive private medical services where an initial consultation can be as much as 200 pounds.

FirstMed offers a private prescription service that can provide affordable medical health care to people suffering from the following conditions;

Impotence;
Men with impotence can only get prescriptions on the NHS if they are suffering from a severe condition that leads to impotence such as, diabetes, prostrate problems and cardio vascular disorder. Even if prescribed there are limits of 4 tablets a month

Hair Loss;
Men suffering from hair loss are not offered treatments on the NHS as the treatments are deemed life style drugs.

Weight Loss;
People suffering from severe obesity and who have a BMI of 30 can obtain treatments from the NHS but they must go to regular 2 week weigh in and must show steady weight loss in order to continue with the program. Once their BMI is lower than 30 the NHS will not prescribe.

Influenza & Flu;
Only the elderly and weak are provided with flu vaccines. The NHS will not provide Tamiflu or any other antiviral unless it is proved that the patient has a pandemic virus such as Swine flu of 2009.

Malaria Prevention;
The same is true with Malaria prevention. As there is no Malaria in the UK the NHS will not prescribe antimalarial drugs to people traveling to a Malaria area. Instead all travelers must first seek a private medical consultation and prescription in order to gain treatments.

FirstMed also treats, Low libido and high cholesterol control.

Although most of the conditions above are not critical illnesses, the lack of adequate treatment can lead to further problems such as depression, anxiety, and other health complications. However with FirstMed's affordable private medical service there is no need to suffer in silence.
